All over the world, the Christian church is experiencing remarkable growth. New shoots of life are springing up giving fresh dynamism, hope and vision.
Alpha is one of these shoots.
Thousands of Alpha courses are now running in many countries. Hundreds more register each month as church leaders from all denominations report the astonishing impact the course has on non-churchgoers and existing Christians in their areas. And it's spreading fast to many secular locations - prisons, businesses and schools.
Developed at Holy Trinity Brompton over the last twenty years, Alpha is a 15-session practical introduction to the Christian faith. It's aimed especially at people who don't go to church.
At an Alpha event there is a light meal followed by a video presentation on a subject central to the Christian faith. Then participants break into smaller groups to discuss the topic in a relaxed environment where each person can feel free to ask or express whatever they wish. A team leader is attached to each group. There is also a special day during which the subject of the Holy Spirit is addressed.

3 Reasons why you need Jesus!
Because you have a past.
You can't go back, but He can. The Bible says, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever" (The Bible: Hebrews, Chapter 13, verse 8). He can walk into those places of sin (wrongdoing) and failure, wipe the slate clean and give you a new beginning.
Because you need a friend.
Jesus knows the worst about you, yet he believes the best. Why? Because He sees you not as you are, but as you will be when He gets through with you. What a friend!
Because He holds the future.
Who else are you going to trust? In His hands you are safe and secure - today, tomorrow, and for eternity. His Word (the Bible) says, "For I know the plans I have for you...plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. In these days when you pray I will listen" (Jeremiah, Chapter 29, verses 11 - 13).
If you'd like to begin a new life with God's help today, you can pray this prayer:
"Lord Jesus, I invite You into my life. I believe You died for me and that Your blood pays for my sins and provides me with the gift of eternal life. By faith I receive that gift and I acknowledge You as my Lord and Saviour. Amen"
